Mead is Music for your Mouth

Back in 2012, a friend of mine who had been making mead in a garage for many years asked if I wanted to help him launch a mead business and I jumped at the opportunity. I knew nothing about mead-making or brewing but was excited to learn. We set up a custom crush at a local winery in Berkeley and we were off to the races. I was responsible for setting up the business licenses and managing the books, but I got to apprentice the mead-making as well as throw my hand in with the wine-making during crush, and I fell in love.

We grew a nice little business, but ultimately shut it down when my friend moved out of state. However, I had found my true passion: making delicious sparkling mead. Since then, I’ve been home-brewing my own sparkling mead, refining and enhancing some of the recipes we introduced in 2012 and developing a couple of new recipes of my own.

After working in tech for a couple decades, I decided to launch my own brand of sparkling mead, and call it, “Modern Day Mead” to make sure people knew this wasn’t your typical mead. This is the taste and the flavors for a new generation.

At Modern Day Mead, we use nothing but the finest honey and purèes in our sparkling mead recipes. Honey isn’t vegetarian of course, but everything else we use in our mead-making processes is. And our sparkling mead is 100% gluten free. Even if you’re not trying to avoid gluten, this sparkling mead is delicious.
